This course examines the federal and states courts from both a normative and empirical perspective through exploring conceptions of law and jurisprudence, the function and organization of the courts, the role of courts in the American political system, judicial selection processes, models of judicial decision-making, analysis of judicial policy outputs, judicial effect on policy, and courts and public opinion.
