The purpose of this course is to familiarize the student with the physics of the earth and with geophysical methods. Topics include the interior structure and properties of the earth, seismology, gravimetry, magnetics, heat flow, age of the Earth, and dynamics and structure of the Earth. Topics of college physics are assumed. Calculus-based physics is desirable but not necessary. A course in computer science is desirable. Permission of instructor required.
