This class is designed for non-science major students to help them overcome the lack of interest and the challenges that they may have in learning chemistry. The class intends to capture students' attention by allowing them to learn about topics concerning today's society such as emerging infectious diseases, crime scene investigation, the obesity epidemic, biotechnology, new materials, chemical weapons and nuclear energy. Learning about a variety of chemical applications based on fundamental chemical phenomena, the students will build confidence that they can be successful in chemistry. (3-0-3)
