This course is an overview of contemporary type, as well as the traditions and history that formed it. Through lectures, studio projects, and in-class exercises, students explore the basic mechanics involved in recognizing the communicative potential of type. At the end of the semester, students have the "tools" toinclude type as part of a working creative repertoire. Open to non-majors with permission.
