Intensive English Reading is designed to increase reading skills of non-native English speakers to post-secondary school level for career enhancement or continuing education at the college/university level. This course consists of four, eleven-week sessions, each session increasing in complexity of reading skills and text. In total, the skills to be covered over the entirety of the course include reading comprehension, vocabulary (context and etymology), main ideas, textbook usage and style, reading rate, notetaking, test-taking, critical reading/thinking skills, and reading-writing relationship. Placement by test or successful completion of prior level IEP 090 class. Corequisite: Intensive English speaking, listening and writing. Placement at level two.
