Description:
This course introduces the phonological features of American Standard English. Students will engage in active discourse with emphasis on linguistic skills pertinent to oral communication. They will be exposed to interpersonal skills as well as transactional skills. Both formal and informal registries of language will be examined according to specific skill levels of the students. The level of instruction is consistent with the students oral proficiencies. Finally, participants will be introduced to the linguistic subtleties required for negotiating oral language as they pertain to the student's speaking level. Students should be non-native English speakers.
