SO J.Shipley This course will examine cross-culturally how the mass media print and electronic, old and new have become critical to the constitution of subjectivities, collectivities, and histories in the contemporary world and are the primary means for the circulation of symbolic forms across space and time. Attention is paid to how the production, reception, and circulation of media forms and technologies are integrated into social practice at the local, national, and transnational levels.
