This course will focus on issues that have defined and directed Jewish pedagogy from its inception until the present day. The first half of the course will focus on the past, with the examination including a brief review of Jewish pedagogy, its history, theoretical debates, and the evolution of its practice across the centuries. The second half of the course will concentrate on the present and future of Jewish education - and consider a number of specific contexts in which Jewish teaching and learning take place in North America.
