(6 credit/8 contact hours) This course will provide the student with the knowledge and ability to safely work in and around a substation, understand the purpose and function of the substation equipment, and how to safely evaluate trouble and execute operating procedures; student will possess the skills to pursue a career in the electric utility industry areas of substation construction, operations and maintenance. Topics to include substation overview, construction, equipment, grounding, operation, wiring practices, maintenance, and safety. Prerequisites: None. Corequisites: None.
