The purpose of the class is to acquaint individuals with the nuts-and-bolts of how to start a business: selecting a legal structure, obtaining the correct permits and licenses, obtaining financing, and setting up an accounting system. Emphasis is placed on legal structure, permitting and licensing, financing, accounting, risk management and operation of a new business. Students will be required to write designated components of a business plan.
