An introduction to Geographic Information Systems with a focus on GIS methods and procedures used in the Social Sciences. Cartographic procedures for displaying the results of social scientific research are presented. Specific GIS methods are covered for use in several different applications areas, including political geography, transportation studies, land use for cadastral and zoning applications, and spatial statistics in the context of criminology.
