Topics include mechanisms of transcription, promoter architecture, function and regulation of transcription factors, organization of chromosomes, pathways that control gene expression during growth and development, genome organization and whole-genome expression analysis, and related areas. The course emphasizes presentation and critical discussion of techniques and results from the recent scientific literature. Prerequisites: BIOL 3301, BIOL 3302, and BIOL/CHEM 3361 or their equivalents, or the written consent of the instructor. (3-0) T
