This course covers pharmaceutical mathematics including reading, interpreting, and solving calculation problems encountered in the preparation and distribution of drugs in both hospital and community settings. Also discussed is the conversion of measurements within the apothecary, avoirdupois, and metric systems with emphasis on the metric system of weight and volume. Other topics include: Fractions, number systems, decimals, numerical ratios, percents, proportions, percentage of error, elements of the prescription order, prescription directions, problem solving in the pharmacy, ratioproportion, decimal analysis, customized doses based on weight and body mass, calculating pediatric doses, house hold measurements, oral doses, liquid measurements, temperature measurement- Fahrenheit verses Celsius, and completing a temperature chart.
