Description:

This is a basic, intermediate or advanced type of non-health professions work-based instruction that helps students synthesize new knowledge, apply previous knowledge or gain experience managing the workflow. Practical experience is simultaneously related to theory. Direct supervision is provided by the faculty or the work supervisor. Students will apply the theory, concepts and skills involving specialized materials, tools, equipment, procedures, regulations, laws and interactions within and among political, economic, environmental, social and legal systems associated with the occupation and the business/industry and will demonstrate legal and ethical behavior, safety practices, interpersonal and teamwork skills and appropriate written and verbal communication skills using the terminology of the occupation and the business/industry. Students will be mentored and will have had the opportunity to learn the operating skills involved with a full-scale process operating unit. Prerequisites: 30 hours + (in program courses), 3.0 GPA, PTAC 1302, PTAC 1410, PTAC 1408, CHEM 1419, PHYS 1401 or PHYS 1410, MATH 1314 or TECM 1303.
