The initial course in the social work curriculum, this course is designed to give students an understanding of the development and history of social work as a profession as well as a broad overview of how social work is carried out in various settings and with diverse populations. This course gives insights into the body of knowledge, theory, values, principles and techniques of social work generalist practice at the entry level. Cross-credited with SWK 1315. Only three credit hours will be awarded for SOC 1315 and SWK 1315. This is a required course for social work majors. Fall. Prerequisite: SOC 1311 or consent of instructor. Three semester hours * May be used as a sociology elective only
