Contemporary cultural patterns and their cultural antecedents are examined. Students will become acquainted with major historical and literary figures and historical events, visual arts and music that have contributed to world culture and to the Hispanic heritage in the New World. Requires a minimum of high intermediate proficiency in reading, writing and oral skills. Prerequisites: Completion of freshman writing requirements and SPAN 2312 or 2314, placement test, or permission of instructor. (Fall, even-numbered years) Alternates with SPAN 3340, Introduction to Spanish Literature.
