This course serves as an introduction to the fundamentals of international financial management and the challenges and opportunities that corporations and investors face in the global economy. The nature of exchange rates and their impact on corporate decisions provide a foundation for discussing corporate strategy and the decision to invest abroad, foreign exchange market equilibrium conditions and forecasting exchange rates, managing exchange risk, multinational capital budgeting and cost of capital, and sources of financing. The nature and value of international trade and international financial flows are evaluated, and students are introduced to the less popular concept of balance of payments. Conceptual content include ethical issues encountered in the international arena, principles of business strategy, economics, political science, financial management, and derivative instruments.
