Peace and conflict issues are core topics in global studies. While international conflict and war seem to be a constant in the human experience, in fact, much of our everyday global interaction is marked by peaceful exchanges and cooperation. This course will provide a theoretical overview of the debates associated with conflict and peace studies focusing in particular on the causes of war and the nature of diplomacy. It will examine the evolution of, and trends in warfare, as well as the consequences of war and proposed solutions to help prevent or limit war.
