This is a course in the fundamental principles of biology considering levels of organization from the genes to the organism. Structure and function of animals (primarily human) will be examined. Emphasis is placed on genetics, and strategies developed for hormonal and nervous control mechanisms, internal transport, energy utilization, gas exchange and nutrition. It is recommended to take BIOL 1307 concurrently with BIOL 1107. Intended for students majoring in biology, bioinformatics, biochemistry or kinesiology (pre-physical therapy only), or students fulfilling the requirements for entry into medical, dental or other professional schools in the health sciences.
