CRT HRS:03 LEC HRS:03 LAB HRS:00 This course focuses on the study of the use and abuse of drugs and other harmful substances in today's society from historical and contemporary perspectives. Emphasis is placed on the physiological, sociological, economic, psychological, medical, ethical, and legal factors associated with substance abuse. Particular attention and study will be devoted to the impact of alcohol, tobacco, narcotics, and sports enhancement drugs on various segments of society. An overview of intervention and treatment programs will also be explored. Prerequisite: None.
