CRT HRS:03 LEC HRS:03 LAB HRS:00 This course provides an interpretation of the historical heritage of the Mexican American in the United States. Emphasis will be given to nineteenth and twentieth century social, political and economic issues in Mexican American culture, including the legacy of social activism on the people. In addition, the course may cover topics dealing with the South Texas border culture. Students will be expected to show and understanding of the knowledge presented in the course, as well as proficiency in thinking critically about historical issues. Prerequisite: A passing score of 78+ on the Reading ACCUPLACER Exam or equivalent; or completion of READ 0090 with a grade of "C" or better. (May substitute for HIST 1302).
