Students explore how Gothic literature challenges conventional views through horror, the irrational, and the supernatural and examines how this literature expresses political, social, and cultural fears. They also trace the genre's transformations through three centuries of British and American literature and film. Previously ENG 266/ENG 266W. Prerequisite: Completion of ENGL& 101 with a 2.0 or better. Mandatory Decimal Grading.
