Clinical practice for the first semester focuses on giving students opportunities to begin to develop basic nursing skills in patient care settings. Students begin their direct patient care in the long-term care facilities. This slower pace also allows students the benefit of developing good assessment skills which will assist them as they continue their nursing experience.
