An exploration of the foundations necessary for mastery of the advanced topics of clinical practice out of the hospital. Topics include, roles and responsibilities, EMS systems, rescue operations, scene management, basic concepts of human development and pathophysiology, basic pharmacology, effective communications, medical/legal and ethical issues, and the well being of the Paramedic. A minimum course grade of 80 is required. Prerequisite: Current Texas EMT-Basic certification. Corequisites: EMSP1456 AND 2248.
