We will examine the creative process, what our arts tell us about our sensibilities, and how people come to appreciate (or why they fail to appreciate) art. Particular attention will be paid to theories of nonrepresentational art. We will read authors such as Karsten Harries, Kenneth Clark, and Jose Ortega y Gassett.
