General introduction to current networking technology for local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and the Internet. Focuses on contemporary network topologies, services, transmission media, and protocols. Discussion includes the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) reference mode and Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE ) standards.
