(For ESL students placed at the 95 level on the Heritage University Assessment Test.) Focuses on grammar and academic vocabulary needs of non-native speakers and prepares them to test into ENG 101 or enter the ENG 099A/B sequence, if necessary. Writing assignments and tasks parallel those in the ENG 099A/B sequence: the skills needed to compose various types of coherent paragraphs and short essays, including practice in reading, paraphrasing, and summarizing short essays. Graded Pass/No Pass and is not applicable to degree programs. Offered Fall semester.
