Prerequisite: Appropriate placement test score or instructor permission. This course is designed for students who need to strengthen their skills in arithmetic. Mathematical reasoning will be used to define and solve problems. The specific course content includes topics on fractions, decimals, ratios, proportions, percents, English and metric measurements, area, volume and perimeter of geometric objects, with an introduction to integer arithmetic. Effective communication of these ideas and application to everyday situations are part of the curriculum. Problem solving strategies will be stressed. 5 lecture hours.
