Prerequisite: ART 251 or instructor permission. Continuation of ART 251 with an emphasis on the observation and use of color and value in forming effective visual statements. Presentation and visual analysis of master paintings will be integrated with the development of individual work to further acquaint the student with representational means of expression, with greater variety in the use of pigments and concepts of color and composition. It is designed to further develop a practical understanding of painting based on traditional concepts, techniques, vocabulary, and materials. 4 lecture hours; 2 studio hours. Satisfies specified elective requirement for the AA degree.
