Prerequisites: All courses in physical therapy are restricted to students accepted into the program. Study of the acute and chronic effects of exercise and work on the human body with emphasis on the processes that control and regulate important properties of living systems. Topics include the fundamentals of human energy, nutrition, measurement of human energy expenditure, the cardiovascular system, the pulmonary system, the neuromuscular system, hormone factors affecting physiological function, body composition and the effects of aging. The application of exercise for fitness and wellness in the practice of physical therapy will be emphasized.
