Prerequisites: Graduate standing. The goals of this course are to understand issues around school-based leadership in mathematics education and to develop teacher-leaders who are content, pedagogical and diagnostic experts in their schools. Course readings, discussions and project topics include supporting professional learning communities; coaching for rigorous instruction and learning; creating equitable learning environments; assessment; teacher beliefs, knowledge and motivation; policy; reflecting on and measuring leader effectiveness; and teacher professional development.
