MATH 420 - Problem Solving for K-8 Teachers

FALL/SPRING Prerequisite: (1) (MATH 390 or math teaching experience) and (2) (MATH 311 or equivalent course approved by the department) and (3) (CPLA 100 and CPLA 101) or the equivalent. This math content course for prospective K-8 teachers requires students enrolled in the class to solve a large variety of problem-solving problems using a variety of strategies including the use of manipulatives, technology and mathematical representations. Techniques for teaching problem solving are discussed in the course. The use of a variety of types of technology is a required component of the course.
