Prerequisites: CSCD 300 with a minimum grade of 2.7, Advancement Programming Exam Clearance, Advancement in the Major. This course will begin with a brief historical overview of human-computer user interfaces with an eye to identifying the key steps in their conceptual development. Students will read in the field of classical human factors, focusing on findings of a particular relevance to user interface design and operation. Exploration of the domain of interaction design and testing and intellectual property protection as it relates to human-computer interfaces, investigating what constitutes (or does not constitute) a patentable method and how patent protections are pursued will be discussed. Written projects and team projects are required.
