Prerequisites: A minimum grade of 2.7 in CSCD 240 and CSCD 420; Advancement Programming Exam Clearance and Advancement in Major. This course examines the correspondence between automata, languages and logic circuits with an emphasis on the relationships between Turing machines, computability and transducers as algebraic systems. Automata theory is applied to the first phase of compiler design. Programming assignments are required.
