FALL/WINTER/SPRING [satisfies the GECR for natural sciences, chemistry.] Basic chemical principles are used to examine some of the chemistry that most directly impacts individuals and society on a day-to-day basis. The course is designed to develop in students an appreciation for the chemical basis of their bodies and their environment. Emphasis is placed on the dynamic nature of the field of chemistry and efforts are made to dispel many of the common misconceptions that nonscientists often have about chemistry and other natural sciences. Laboratory work is included.
