ETSP 205 - Energy Conservation and Building Retrofit

Based on case studies, students will develop energy conservation recommendations based on the specifics of a business or residence, taking into account site and design, business processes, and current carbon footprint and energy usage. Recommendations will include changes in existing processes or lifestyle including concerns for individual and group quality of life; upgrade of equipment, appliances or machinery; changes in energy management practices; and possible retrofit to the building or residence. Recommendations will be compared and selected based on results of estimated cost analysis, return on investment and carbon footprint reductions. Prerequisite(s): Completion of BIT 156 and completion of ETSP 204.
