3 credits This is the second class in a three-course series that examines public health, community nutrition and health care systems. Students begin to assess the needs of a community, outlining the background to a public health grant that will be completed in TR6133. Students explore public funded nutrition programs, comparing and contrasting effective community nutrition education in affecting dietary behavior change and critically evaluating effective interventions in communities with different cultural backgrounds. The ethical and philosophical complexities related to nutrition education are discussed, and the fundamentals of social marketing food and nutrition services are also outlined.
