5 credits This course covers the basics of drug interactions including pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, drug and toxin metabolism, and the molecular basis for drug and botanical effects. Particular attention is given to the commonly used therapeutic agents for cardiac, central nervous system, infectious, and endocrine diseases. Toxicities, drug interactions and clinical effectiveness are also emphasized. Most legend drugs within the naturopathic scope of practice are included and the mechanisms of herbal action and drug/herb interactions are discussed. Prerequisites: BC5106, BC5109, BC6200
