Lecture 4 credits This is a four-week intensive summer course. This course along with Organic Chemistry 2 is intended to satisfy the organic chemistry prerequisites for BC5104. This course offers a systematic study of the physical properties, electronic structures, modes of bonding, and patterns of reactivity seen in alkanes, alkenes, alcohols, thiols, ketones, aldehydes, esters, ethers, phosphoesters, thioesters, amines, amides, carboxylic acids and aromatic compounds. Prerequisite: At least a C in BC2117 and BC2118 or equivalent college level courses elsewhere.
