A lecture-laboratory course in the elements of playwriting. Exercises in writing exposition, traditional scene structure, rising action, crisis, falling action, resolution and denouncement. Development of narrative line, characterization and dialogue, with practice in writing an original dramatic text. May be repeated once for undergraduate credit with consent of advisor and the director of theatre.
