As writers of creative nonfiction, we rely on the "eye" as well as the "I" to navigate experiences, encounters, and facts. Not fiction, not poetry, not drama, "the fourth genre" nevertheless borrows craft elements such as narrative arc, dialogue, and lyricism, in its pursuit to discover truth in all its guises ("emotional," etc.). In this advanced seminar, students will experiment with form and address a range of subjects in weekly pieces; we'll read deeply and analyze established models as well as peer work to develop important critical faculties.
