SP Nonviolent social movements have been in many countries and contexts. Students explore principles and methods of nonviolence, drawing on the work of Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., and others, and examine nonviolent movements in the U.S. and abroad. Students seek to understand the processes and strategies of nonviolent social movements, and to explore the role of movements and other forms of citizen action in a democracy. GS; HS; SOJ
