Four hours credit. An overview of automotive electrical systems including topics in operational theory, testing, diagnosis, and repair of batteries, charging and starting systems, and electrical accessories. Emphasis is on electrical schematic diagrams and service manuals. May be taught manufacturer specific. Utilizing appropriate safety measures, the student will interpret wiring schematics and symbols; explain electrical principles; and explain the theory and principles of battery starting, charging systems, and automotive electrical accessories; and demonstrate proper use of electrical test equipment. Prerequisites or concurrent enrollment in: MATH 0310 and REDG 0310. Two lecture and six lab hours each week. Lab fee.
