Three hours credit. An entry level course in digital electronics covering number systems, binary mathematics, digital codes, logic gates, Boolean algebra, Karnaugh maps, and combinational logic. Emphasis will be on circuit logic analysis and troubleshooting digital circuits. The student will explain the operation of digital logic gates and use Boolean algebra and Karnaugh mapping to express logic operations and minimize logic circuits in design. The student will construct, analyze, and troubleshoot combinational logic circuits; create a truth table for standard digital logic gates; and add, subtract, multiply and divide using the binary numbering system. Prerequisite: THEA Math 220+ or Accuplacer Elementary Algebra 52+. Co-requisite: TECM 1341 or MATH 1314. Two lecture and two lab hours each week.
