ELPT 1441 - Motor Control

Four hours credit. Instruction in motor control fundamentals and control wiring in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). Skill development in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of various control circuits. The student will state the purpose and general principles of electrical motor control; explain the principles of operation of manual motor starters; use electrical symbols in drawing schematics and wiring diagrams; describe how pilot devices control motors; and connect across the line starters with motors. Three lecture and two lab hours each week. Prerequisite: ELPT 2405. Lab fee.
