Four hours credit. An introduction to the basic principles of pneumatic pressure flow and system components including manual and electromechanical controls, symbols and circuits. Emphasis on troubleshooting techniques, good maintenance procedures, and safety practices. The student will state Pascal's law and its consequences involving pressure; state the general gas law and its applications; name the basic pneumatic system components and state the function of each; calculate pressure, flow rate, or actuator size given any two parameters; and determine compressor size given flow rate, pressure and actuator requirements. Prerequisite or concurrent enrollment in: TECM1341. Two lecture hours and three lab hours each week. Lab fee.
