Three hours credit. Increases awareness of current techniques, issues and ethics in mainstreaming and bilingual/bicultural education practices. Includes a survey of technical signs and signed English systems not currently in use. The student will apply decision making processes regarding role and ethics to situations encountered in the educational setting; make an accurate assessment of a deaf student's preferred mode of communication and adapt appropriately; describe the bilingual/bicultural approach to education of the deaf; and develop conceptually accurate ideographic signs for technical terms encountered in specific context areas. Prerequisites: SLNG 1405 and 2302. Three lecture hours each week.
