3 hours Prerequisite: ART 2520. An in-depth examination of the distinctive regional identity, themes, and means of expression in the arts of the Appalachian South. Themes will include ethnic aesthetic expression, sectarian culture, community identity, and the function of art in religious and everyday life. Significant outside readings will be incorporated into class discussions.
