Institution:
Thomas University
Subject:
Description:
This course emphasizes transmission and molecular genetics, genetic expression and variation, and genetic technology. Aspects of genomics, developmental genetics and cancer will be covered. During the course, students will study transmission of information from one generation to the next, the structure of the genetic material from nucleotide to genome level, the process of protein production, regulation of gene expression and the correlation between genetics with cancer and behavior. Awide variety of instructional materials, including textbooks, short books, laboratory guides, videos, and laser disks that are useful for teaching genetics at the middle and secondary grade levels will also be introduced to students.
