Prerequisite: Associate Degree from a NAACLSaccredited MLT/CLT program. An opportunity for in-depth application and reinforcement of microbiology principles and techniques is provided. This clinical rotation allows the student to become involved in laboratory principles and procedures at a medical technologist level. Topics include specimen inoculations, stains, culture work-ups, bacterial identification, anti-microbial sensitivity, media presentation, microbiology instrumentation theory, safety, quality control, management issues, and special areas such as mycology, virology, tuberculosis, and fluorescent antibody techniques.
